Ongoing to May 31st – Clare Rojas’s Caerulea and Ala Ebtekar’s Parallax at Gallery Paule Anglim: The gallery will feature solo shows by Clare Rojas and Ala Ebtekar. Rojas’ focus of the past several years has been on abstraction and color, building 2-dimensional compositions from panes of color that meet and interact. Ebtekar will present a concise arrangement of two new works in dialogue, a large painting and Fantastic Voyage, a mixed media light-box. Thursday, May 22nd – Re:depiction with Hughen/Starkweather at the Asian Art Museum 6:30 PM: The collaborative artist team Hughen/Starkweather has been invited to create a one-night installation for the Asian Art Museum. Hughen/Starkweather invited staff members from the museum to select artworks on view and describe their chosen artwork to the artists in an interview. Using these interviews, the artists created an abstract work on paper. The final installation will feature the new Hughen/Starkweather abstraction alongside a sound piece based on the interview. The original artwork described by museum staff will be on view in the Museum and can be found via special map created for the event. The event is free with price of museum admission, tickets to the museum can be purchased here. The Asian Art Museum is located at 200 Larkin St, San Francisco.

May 4th – 25th – Mixed Messages, Mills College 2014 Thesis Exhibition: Featuring work by 12 MFA candidates, this annual exhibition is the culmination of the two-year Mills College MFA program in Studio Art. On view during regular museum hours Tuesday–Sunday 11:00 am–4:00 PM and Wednesday 11:00 am–7:30 PM.
May 15th – May 24th – California College of the Arts Graduate Exhibition: This year’s show will be presented in the Nave of the San Francisco campus. The opening reception is Thursday May 15th from 6 – 10 pm, and open daily from 10 am – 7:30 pm.
May 16th – May 18th – Principal, San Francisco Arts Institute MFA Thesis Exhibition: Presented at The Old Mint (located at 88 5th Street) with a Gala Vernissage on Wednesday, May 14th from 5:30 – 10:30.
